Ping Kelly is a graduate of Yunnan College of Art in Kunming, where she also qualified as a teacher. Since taking up residence in The UK, she has added acrylics to her repertoire and further developed her skills as a portrait artist. Although her personal preference is for abstract painting in oils she also creates water colours in the traditional style of her native China.

Ping has recently deviated from the Chinese figurative style to experiment with abstract forms applying traditional brush painting techniques. The next stage in her work is to transfer this combination of modern forms and traditional techniques to a more western type of medium creating abstract works in oil that retain characteristics of the Orient.

Ping has exhibited her work at the Art in the Garden exhibition in Sheffield and has recently exhibited four paintings in the Bexley Wing of St James' Hospital in Leeds. Examples of Ping's recent work can be viewed in her on-line gallery.
